LONDON: Scotland Yard on Thursday dropped all the charges against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief, citing a lack of sufficient evidence. According to Scotland Yard, the charges were dropped on the recommendation of Crown Prosecution Service over ‘insufficient evidences’. The case weakened as Pakistani interior ministry failed to assist in the case, it said.
The Scotland Yard further stated that the court has sought details of Altaf Hussain’s alleged connections with Indian spy agency RAW.
The money laundering investigation was launched after the Metropolitan Police discovered hundreds of thousands of pounds during two raids — one on an MQM office and another on Altaf Hussain’s residence in London. The raids were conducted in connection with the investigation into Dr Imran Farooq’s murder. NNI
