New Delhi; Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez is on an official visit to India. This is the first visit of a Spanish prime minister to India in 18 years.
According to Indian media, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez attended the opening ceremony at the Tata-Airbus Final Assembly Line Complex for the production of Airbus C295 aircraft in Vadodara, Gujarat.
The plant will produce the first ‘Made in India’ C-295 aircraft by 2026. Recall that the two countries agreed on a $2.5 billion contract for 56 cargo and troop-carrying C295 aircraft from Airbus Defense and Space in 2021.
The Indian plant at Vadodara will complete the first “Made in India” C295 aircraft in 2026. Under the agreement reached between the two countries in 2021, 16 aircraft will be built in Spain while the remaining 40 aircraft will be manufactured in India.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in the inauguration ceremony that this factory will not only strengthen the relationship between India and Spain but also strengthen the ‘Make in India and Made for the World’ mission.
Prime Minister Modi further said that the plant also strengthens India’s position as a reliable partner in global aerospace manufacturing. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said that aerospace manufacturing has opened a new chapter in India’s defense and space industry.
