LAHORE: The heirs of Model Town massacre victims on Saturday moved to Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking contempt of court proceeding against Punjab government for not making the judicial inquiry report into the Model Town killing public despite the court’s order.
The heirs while naming Chief Minister Punjab, Law Minister and Home Secretary as respondent filed a petition in LHC.
The petitioners submitted that by not making the Justice Baqir Najafi’s report public the Home Secretary was committing contempt of court.
They added that a single member bench of the LHC had ordered the government to make the report public, but despite the order the report was not being made public.
The petitioner pleaded the court to initiate contempt of court over not complying the order. They further pleaded the court to direct the government not to alter the report and provide certified copies of the report to the heirs.
