Mobile users in Pakistan reach 121 million mark

ISLAMABAD: Number of mobile users in the country has reached 121 million whereas 3G and 4G consumers have escalated to 20 million.

In the wake of security threats, government has made the biometric verification of SIMs mandatory after which the users’ toll has slashed to 110.5 million from 140 million during 2014-2015. But with the passage of time, the quantity has jumped to 121 million and is continuously rising.

On the other hand, 3G and 4G users are also increasing. Before the issuance of 3G license the customers’ toll was 38 lac whereas by the end of September 2015 over 20 million people are utilizing the technology.

Pakistan ranks 5th in Asia in mobile phone users as more than 100 million people are using mobile phones in the country. The number of mobile phone users in the world has crossed 5 billion.

Analysts say that the main reason behind the increasing number of mobile phone users is competitive tendency and lower calling charges.

On the other hand, IT experts say that use of mobile phone has brought changes in the living standards of common man that’s why its demand is increasing day by day in the country.
