KARACHI:: Estranged leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Zulfikar Mirza on Tuesday reiterated demand that he and his family be provided enhanced security in the wake of threats.
Speaking to reporters at Sindh High Court (SHC), he claimed that Sindh government has withdrawn his security on behest of PPP leadership.
Mirza has filed an application in the court seeking more security for him and wife, former Speaker National Assembly Dr Fahmida Mirza.
“Other interior ministers, Waseem Akhter and Rauf Siddiqui were provided police squads for adequate security… More than 250 policemen are deployed for security of Fariyal Talpur (Asif Ali Zardari’s sister), but it’s only me whose security is withdrawn by Sindh government,” he said.
The disgruntled PPP leader, who is again in media limelight for his fresh disclosures about party leadership, described the political party as clique of ‘thugs’ and ‘looters’ but said he would remain part of it.
“I was, I am and I will remain in PPP,” he asserted, and lashed out at the party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain, saying that he had exposed them.
Yesterday, Mirza came under fire from Sindh minister Mumtaz Jakhrani and MPA Imdad Patafi who reacted strongly to his public criticism against Zardari at a press conference at Bilawal House.
