Minister opens immunization drive in bordering district

ZHOB: Provincial Minister for Revenue, Excise and Transport Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail inaugurated the 3-day anti-polio campaign by administering anti-polio drops to the children here on Monday at DHQ civil hospital in bordering district Zhob.

Additional Secretary Social Welfare Jamali, Deputy Commissioner Nazar Muhammad Khetran, DHO Dr. Muhammad Shah, WHO Representative Dr. Farooq Kibzai, UNICEF Coordination Officer Abdul Samad Hariphal, Dr. Nasrullah, President Para medical staff Tahir Hotak and journalists were also present on the occasion. The drive began on Sep 29th, which would continue till Oct 1st, 2014.

EPI Coordinator Dr. Zain ud Din and Dr. Akhter Mandokhail while briefing on the outline plan of polio campaign, said that the vaccinators would visit door to door to administer anti-polio drops to children against the crippling disease in every nook and corner of the district.

“More than 61000 children of the district below five years of age would be administered the drops. In this regard 138 mobile teams have been set up for the purpose”. They said.

They also urged the religious scholars, social workers, tribal and political leaders to make the campaign successful by involving their all-possible efforts, so that the children of the district could be immunized against the crippling disease.

Provincial Minister said that it was a top priority of the government to provide health facilities to the people at their doorsteps and eradicate polio from the country.

“The provincial government was making strenuous efforts for complete elimination of polio from the province and the anti-polio campaign had so far yielded positive results”. He added.
