RAWALPINDI (DNA): The inaugural ceremony of Metro Bus project has been delayed for one month owing to PTI and PAT sit-ins and activities regarding Inqilab and Azadi marches in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

According to new schedule Metro Bust project will be completed now with further one month delay. Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had to jointly inaugurate Petro Bus service on December 25 but according to new schedule this project will be completed by January 31 and its inauguration is expected in the first week of February.

It may be noted that presently 60 percent work has been completed on Metro Bus project while the work on the project has been stopped at most of the places in Islamabad due to sit-ins and their relevant activities in the federal capital.

Recent heavy rains and flood situations are also the causes of delay in the completion of the Metro Bus project. District administration sources told that if sit-ins will continue till the middle of October, Metro Bus project may further delay and its total cost may cross Rs50 billion
