ISLAMABAD:
Some channels are trying to influence the investigation against Axact which is against all journalistic principles; this was stated by senior anchor of Bol Javed Iqbal while speaking in Roze News program Analysis with Asif. Javed said that the media trial carried out by various channels against Bol is condemnable and is an effort to influence the investigation; he also added that there are more than twenty two hundred workers associated with Bol and their future is at stake. He said that if the investigators find any evidence against Axact then it should be punished but trying to wind up the channel is not the right way. He announced that the Channel will be launched on the date already announced and in this regard preparations are in full flow. He also said that Axact will carry out legal proceedings against Declan Walsh.
PFUJ President Afzal Butt said that Axact and Bol are two separate entities and trying to stop the channel from launching on the pretext of allegations on Axact is a systematic effort to put the future of 2200 workers in danger. He said that Bol provided excellent facilities to journalists which are appreciable. He said that declaring Axact guilty on the basis of unproven allegations doesn’t make any sense. Unless the courts and investigation agencies reach a conclusion, making judgments against the channel must be stopped.
Speaking in the program, Khursheed Nadeem said that journalism is in a sad state in Pakistan. He said that the media houses in Pakistan have become larger than the state and have become a way to convert your black money into white money. He said that we all talk about moral principles but in reality none of the programs on media these days are to educate the masses or on social issues. Instead of intellectual debate and focusing on the content of program pretty faces are preferred. He said most media owners don’t have a journalistic background and the same is true for many anchors. He said hardly any anchor is familiar with the concepts of journalism, politics or social sciences. He said that there is so much moral bankruptcy that channels even avoid naming other channel’s on live broadcast.
Journalist Azaz Syed said that Bol must be allowed to function; he also said that the channel has provided excellent facilities to its employees and has given employment to more than 2000 workers. He said if the channel is not allowed to work all these workers will end up jobless.
