ISLAMABAD: Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Sheikh Anser Aziz inspected the under-construction Karal Chowk Interchange at Islamabad Highway here on Tuesday. On this occasion Member Engineering, Shahid Sohail, Director General Environment, Project Director and offices of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and CDA were also present.
Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz said on the occasion that road infrastructure in the Federal Capital would be designed according to the vision of Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. The road infrastructure would be established in line with latest architectural art to meet the future requirements. He further added that such modern roads infrastructures would help reduce the burden of traffic. Mayor of Islamabad, Sheikh Anser Aziz said that road infrastructures were not designed to meet needs of the commuters timely in the past; but now commuters facilitation is the prime concern.
Mayor of Islamabad, Sheikh Anser Aziz directed the Engineering Wing to ensure completion of the project within stipulated time, as the Karal Chowk Interchange project is of immense importance and situated on Islamabad Highway, which would accommodate the traffic in all directions and would help reduce the traffic burden. He said that according to the vision of Prime Minister of Pakistan, Islamabad Highway signal free corridor is the dire need of the hour, which is being implemented in different phases.
He directed the Environment Wing to initiate landscaping work on those parts of the interchange, which have been completed. He further directed for planting sapling of indigenous species of flowers and shady trees. Agencies
