Marriyum Aurangzeb, the minister for information and broadcasting, took notice of the attack on senior journalist and commentator Ayaz Amir by unidentified assailants in Lahore on Friday.
She got in touch with Punjab Home Minister Attaullah Tarar, who informed her that Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had ordered an investigation into the incident.
The minister strongly denounced the act, calling the assault on Ayaz Amir an assault on press freedom. She stated that the government would conduct a thorough investigation and give the journalist justice.
As there is no such thing as democracy without freedom of expression, Marriyum is committed to going above and beyond to ensure the protection of journalists.
