Six Major Generals promoted
ISLAMABAD: Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar has been appointed as the head of Pakistan’s top spy agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence Agency (ISI).
According to ISPR spokesman Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar has been appointed as new Director General ISI. He will take charge of his office on Nov 8.
Lt. Gen Akhtar will replace Lt. Gen. Zaheerul Islam who is retiring on October 1 along with four other Lieutenant Generals.
ISPR further announced that Lt. Gen. Hidayat Ur Rehman has been appointed as Commander Peshawar Corps, Lt. Gen. Navid Mukhtar as Commander Karachi Corps, Lt. Gen. Hilal Hussain as Commander Mangla Corps, Lt. Gen. Ghayur Mahmood as Commander Gujranwala Corps and Lt. Gen. Nazir Butt as Inspector General C & IT.
New appointments were made after six officers were elevated to the rank of Lieutenant General.
ISPR said the key appointments and promotions in the military have been made in the wake of forthcoming retirement of five Lieutenant Generals next month.Agencies
