RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society (PESS) elected its new office bearers on Monday in a meeting held at Flashman’s Hotel Rawalpindi. Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Ali Chishti was elected as PESS Patron in Chief, Lt Gen (retd) Amjad Shoaib as President, Maj Gen (retd) Javed Aslam Tahir as senior vice president and Maj Gen (retd) Ijaz Hussain Awan was elected as vice president.
After completion of elections, the new office bearers addressed the meeting and vowed to use all their capabilities to organize ex-servicemen at grass-root level and promote their welfare.
Lt Gen (retd) Amjad briefly touched upon external threats to the country and poor performance of national institutions to tackle new emerging challenges. He said ex-servicemen are not the only members of PESS even their family members are part and parcel of this veteran’s organization.
He said ex-servicemen are part of armed forces and they stand with their serving brethren. As such they and armed forces belong to same constituency. District Presidents from Punjab, KPK and Sindh also spoke on the occasion.
It is pertinent to mention here that Lt Gen (retd) Amjad Shoaib has been conducting his own program on Roze News by the name of Defence Matters for more than 3 years. Defence Matters is one of the most comprehensive programs related to defence affairs of Pakistan and is widely watched in the country.
