ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar on Saturday submitted a report in the Senate regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen’s involvement in writing off loans during the era of Pervez Musharraf.
The report stated that Tareen wrote off loans worth Rs 10 million during the Musharraf era. The amount was obtained from the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) for the Tandianwala Sugar Mill.
Azam Khan Sawati was enquired during the session of the Senate regarding the names of those who had waved off loans worth Rs 5 million or more during the past 30 years to which, Ishaq Dar presented the report having the statistics and the names.
Tareen was part of the Board of Governors of the sugar mill back in 2005 when the loan was waived off. PTI leader was also a federal minister at that time when Pervez Musharraf was in power and loans were waived off for his sugar mill.
