Loadshedding irks consumers across Punjab

LAHORE/KHANEWAL/MULTAN (INP): The gap between power supply and demand has exceeded 1,880 megawatts and there are reports of loadshedding of 14 to 16 hours in rural areas and upto 12 hours in various cities of Punjab on Sunday.

According to details, power generation in Punjab is 1,890MW against the demand of 3770MW, with a shortfall of 1,880MW.

Due to the shortfall witnessed by LESCO and MEPCO, citizens in Lahore, Multan, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Lodhran, Bahawalnagar, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Layyah, Bhakkar, Rahimyar Khan, Vehari had to face loadshedding of 12 to 16 hours.

Prolonged power outages have not only disturbed the routine life but also trade activities.

The masses have condemned the long hours of loadshedding and warned to take to streets if solid steps were not taken to mend the situation.
