LAHORE (INP): The Lahore High Court on Thursday ordered the government to release the arrested workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

The Home Department of Punjab in a report submitted in the court stated that 2,220 workers of PAT and PTI have been released. The report said that 36 activists involved in rioting at Rawalpindi airport have been in detention and they were directed to submit Rs100,000 surety bonds each but none of them have submitted the bonds.

The court after hearing arguments of the lawyers of two sides ordered immediate release of all detained workers of PAT and PTI. The court also declared the orders of the Home Department and DCO Jhelum about detention and demand for surety bonds as null and void.
