LAHORE: On Saturday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered the release of 123 PTI members who had been detained as a result of party protests protesting Imran Khan’s incarceration.
On a suit filed by PTI leader Farrukh Habib, Justice Anwarul Haq of the LHC ruled that the government’s notification of their detention was illegal.
All of the people being held were political workers, Mr. Habib’s attorney informed the court during the hearing, and he requested that they be released.
The appeal contested the illegal arrest of 123 PTI workers from Faisalabad, where Farrukh Habib was born and raised.
After Mr. Khan was taken into custody by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the Al-Qadir Trust case, violent protests broke out in several locations across the nation. During the protests, a number of public and private properties were damaged.
Police initiated an effort to identify the persons responsible for the violence after the vandalism.
