LHC issues notices to Sharif family over alleged wealth stashing

LAHORE: Lahore High Court on Thursday issued notices to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif among six family members in case regarding alleged illegal wealth stashed abroad.

LHC Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan heard the case, during the hearing, petitioner’s counsel Barrister Iqbal Jaffery maintained that the PM family accumulated illegal assets worth billions of Pakistani Rupees in foreign countries at expense of national treasure.

He referenced Panama Papers in the case highlighting the recent leak of a law firm’s documents.

The petitioner requested the court to order return of Sharif family’s assets toPakistan. The court admitted the plea and issued notices to the Prime Minister among six family members.

The LHC has summoned replies from the notified persons on April 18.
