LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday admitted the plea seeking PML-N leader Khawaja Asif s disqualification and issued notices to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and respondent.
Justice Mamoon Rashid heard the case pertaining to plea seeking disqualification of Khawaja Asif who had won NA-73 seat in General Elections 2018.
Earlier, on September 22, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate from same constituency Usman Dar had challenged Khawaja Asif’s electoral victory.
Dar had contended in his petition that Asif submitted an unverified affidavit along with his nomination papers hiding his assets’ details.
The petition stated that ECP failed to implement the Election Act.
The plea has requested the court to annul the victory notification of Khawaja Asif in NA-73. INP
