Another gory terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University Charsadda refreshed the sad memories of attack on Army Public School Peshawar in 2014. Once again an educational institution was targeted in the similar style by the same terrorist groups.

Terrorists were killed in a military operation and varsity was declared cleared but by that time 21 innocent people including students and teachers were killed by the brutal attack. One faculty member rendered his life with bravery written all over his martyrdom, he could have run to save his life but he opted to fight with militants with is own firearm.

Once again Director General ISPR Asim Bajwa in a press conference revealed that attackers were identified and their phone calls were traced to Afghanistan. This is the issue we have been highlighted since long. After the operation Zarb-e-Azb militants were left with no other option either to die or fee. Most of the terrorist have been reportedly escaped to Afghanistan. The terrorism problem has been displaced to safe havens across the Afghan border or driven underground, from where the terrorists can strike. Pakistan needs to indulge in serious talks with Afghanistan in order to take action against safe heavens of terrorists near the poorly policed Afghan-Pakistan border area.

In our country better intelligence sharing can prevent such gory attacks, because terrorists can be fought in the remote areas but in the cities only preemptive attacks can put full stop on terrorist activities. There is need to establish central coordinating centre for intelligence sharing. Army is fighting against militants but civilian government has faced criticism for not implementing the all 20 points of Nation Action Plan. Slow implementation of NAP has also been discussed in the Parliament. Its the time to realize our duties, we are fighting a war.

Only proper implementation of NAP can prevent terrorist attacks.
