QUETTA, Dec 18 (INP): For the third consecutive day, lawyers across Balochistan on Thursday boycotted the courts proceeding to mourn the Peshawar carnage.
Members of the legal fraternity marched on the roads of Quetta to express their resentment over the tragic incident that shook the entire nation.
Balochistan Bar Association and High Court Bar Association had given the call of strike to mourn the killing of innocent children in Peshawar’s Army Public School the other day. Lawyers took out the protest rally from the district court premises, which passed through different roads of the city.
“There has to be zero tolerance for terrorists involved in the murder of innocent children,” Bilal Kasi, the President of BBA, told protesting lawyers.
The protesting lawyers chanted full-throated slogans against the perpetrators of Peshawar tragedy and urged the government to bust terrorist gangs operating in the country.
The lawyers and judges also offered fateha at Balochistan High Court premises. The judges vowed to convict terrorists as per the country’s laws. “We will convict terrorists as per the country’s laws,” Justice Jamal Mandokhail of the Balochistan High Court assured the gathering.
The lawyers demanded the provincial government to ensure immediate punishment to convicted criminals so that the law and order situation in the province could improve.
The courts in Quetta were giving a deserted look as members of legal fraternity observed the boycott.
