KARACHI: Law enforcers have sped up targeted operation against criminals and terrorists after two Military Police personnel were gunned down on December 1, Wednesday.

Rangers among other law enforcement agencies conducted search operations in Saddar, Manghopir, Bhimpura and surroundings of MA Jinnah Road. Sixty suspects were detained from different areas.

At least twenty suspects were detained from Manghopir while 35 from apartments situated on MA Jinnah. The law enforcers also searched houses in Saddar and Bhimpura’s Old City Area.

The paramilitary personnel apprehended a target killer belonging to a political party during Bhimpura operation. Huge cache of weapons was seized from the place which was to be used in suspected attacks during local body (LB) elections. However, Rangers spokesperson confirmed that two terrorists were killed in the encounter. On the other hand, police gunned down a criminal in an encounter in Pirabad area while his accomplice managed to escape the scene.
