ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad Thursday issued a non-bail-able arrest warrant for former President Pervez Musharraf in a murder case of a former Lal Masjid cleric Ghazi Abdul Rasheed.
Musharraf’s defence counsel had moved an application in the court requesting complete exemption for Musharraf from appearing in the court as he was not well. But Additional Sessions Judge Wajid Ali Khan court rejected the plea.
Musharraf is in Karachi these days and has till 27th to appear himself or Islamabad police will have to take him into custody. The judge also cancelled Musharraf’s surety bond worth Rs100,000 which was submitted in the previous hearing.
The court will resume hearing o April 27. Police had registered a case against Musharraf in 2013 over the murder of Rasheed Ghazi and his mother during the Lal Masjid military operation in 2007.
Besides several other cases, the court also faces a treason case over imposition of emergency rule in 2007.
He has also been charged in the assassination case of Benazir Bhutto and Nawab Akbar Bugti. DNA
