The public prosecutor pleaded for rejection of the application against the detentions, saying that the detention notifications were issued in view of violation of the law. The petitioner’s counsel argued that more than 15,000 detention orders were issued in just 2 years. The court annulled the detention orders.
The Lahore High Court, giving a verdict on the petition, stopped the execution of the Punjab Detention Act, 1960.
