The Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP) organized a vibrant Children’s Day celebration in Soba Nagar, a katchi abadi located in Karachi’s district central. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from children, who showcased their creativity and talent in a lively and inspiring program.
During the event, children brought attention to critical community issues such as cleanliness, water scarcity, and other basic challenges through captivating tableaus, dramatic skits, and speeches. Their performances not only entertained the audience but also spotlighted pressing concerns, inspiring thoughtful reflection among attendees.
Parents of the participating children actively joined the event, offering valuable suggestions to address Soba Nagar’s challenges. They called on the government and stakeholders to work collaboratively towards sustainable solutions for the community’s issues.
Speaking on the occasion, Hameeda Kaleem, Gender Specialist and focal person of KWSSIP’s katchi abadis program, praised the children’s enthusiasm and dedication. She commended their preparation and provided valuable advice on maintaining cleanliness and adopting healthy lifestyle practices. She encouraged the children to make these practices a part of their daily lives to create a cleaner and healthier environment.
The Children’s Day celebration was not just an opportunity to nurture the creativity of young minds but also a platform to build collective understanding and commitment towards resolving local issues. Community members hailed the event as a significant and positive initiative, bringing hope and unity to Soba Nagar residents.
In addition to improving water and sewerage infrastructure, KWSSIP is dedicated to enhancing living conditions in underserved communities. Through activities like this, the project aims to inspire hope and drive meaningful change.
