KP CM claims progress in elimination of corruption, transparency and provision of justice and relief to people

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has acknowledged that a lot more has to be done for lasting progress of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and economic prosperity of its people. He said the candid steps taken by PTI-led coalition govt for elimination of corruption, bringing about transparency in working of the state machinery and provision of justice and relief to the people especially the poor at the level of police and other govt departments were in-fact the part of immediate and short term strategies that of course yielded very encouraging results.

“Now his govt will have to implement the medium and long term strategies as per vision of party chief Imran Khan for which my team will have to work and toil round the clock”, he added.

He was addressing the hours-long review meeting about Provincial Growth Strategy that was chaired by PTI Chairman Imran Khan at KP House Islamabad. It besides the ministers and administrative secretaries and high ups of various govt departments was also attended by PTI leader and economic expert Asad Umar, Shafqat Mehmood and others. The participants were threadbare kept abreast with the available resources, natural, mineral reservoirs, manpower, steps taken and proposed initiatives for speeding up development process whereas necessary decisions were also made in light of the deliberations made therein.

Pervez Khattak assured that next would be the concrete measures and strategies adopted in KP that could guarantee maximum jobs for our educated youth and expand our revenue generation means with the sole aim to ameliorate lot of our poor people. He said there was no dearth of resources in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but all and sundry had to work hard to properly exploit it for welfare of the masses. He while referring to the policy guidelines of his party Chief about immediate focus on tourism, agriculture and energy generation for obtaining prompt relief as well as durable steps for exploiting mineral deposits, oil, gas, hydel and solar energy, assured that efforts on these sectors would be more expedited in days to come. He said private sector has been fully and effectively involved and vitalized in tourism projects while agriculture and irrigation sectors are developed on crash basis to get bumper crops from our fertile soils.

Chief Minister said exploration and exploitation of the precious mineral resources was though a patience-testing prolong process but comprehensive mines and minerals policy of the province has been announced and being pursued with vigor accordingly.

Pervez Khattak said considerable progress has also been made for cheap power generation and industrial growth. He termed cheap electricity the only source of attraction for the local and foreign investors in this ‘otherwise unattractive and disadvantageous province for industries’. He said immediate steps would also be taken to declare one or more national parks in rich forest areas of Kohistan besides increasing afforestation areas and introducing strict laws and strategies to stop illicit forest harvesting and discourage timber mafia with iron hands. Similarly attention would also be given to manufacturing, construction and other sectors of development and productivity besides setting effective boards and monitoring teams to keep vigil on the set targets, he added.

The Chief Minister regretted that besides other geo-political factors, incidents of unrest, terror and natural disasters created hurdles in way of our durable progress in the past. However he reiterated the firm pledge of his govt that all such odds would be braved with all our energies to ensure the speedy progress of the province and bright future of its people. He thanked Imran Khan and all other participants for encouragement, cooperation and assurance in accelerating the process of economic growth in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
