Funded by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is working with the Ministry of Climate Change, Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) and Public Health Engineering Departments (PHEDs) to help enhance the government’s capacity to provide citizens safe drinking water.

In partnership with KOICA, UNOPS Pakistan will also help the climate change ministry to monitor drinking water quality in collaboration with provincial governments, particularly through information management software that will enhance water-quality data.

Under this project, KOICA and UNOPS will help Pakistan achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 6, clean water and sanitation for all.

UNOPS will utilize $4.4 million in funding to address the lack of clean water by procuring water-quality testing equipment and upgrading water-quality testing laboratories.

The project supports UN Sustainable Goal 6, clean water and sanitization for all; SDG 3, good health and well-being and is aligned with the government’s Vision 2025.

“Water management is a big challenge both in quality and quantity, and therefore this project is a very timely and meaningful partnership and can contribute to improving water management in Pakistan,” said the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Climate Change Joudat Ayaz.
