Following the severe rains during the current monsoon, the rivers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are experiencing flooding in various regions, with low to very high flood levels being recorded.A torrent of floodwater has swept into Nowshera’s suburbs, trapping numerous persons in the flood in Tehsil Pabbi.
To get the stranded people off the island, the rescue effort has begun.The Indus River near Khairabad in Attock and the Kabul River in Warsak are both under high flood.Warsak’s outflow has been measured at 128,000 cusecs. At Nowshera, the Kabul River had a water flow of 213,000 cubic seconds and an extremely high level of flooding.
At Khwazakhela and Chakdara, the Swat river had an extremely high flood. While Chakdara is a town in Lower Dir District, Khwazakhela is an administrative division of Swat District.Nowshera is seeing a torrent of 210,000 cusecs, which is raising the water level in the Kabul River.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had earlier in the day issued a red alert regarding high-level flooding in the Kabul River at Nowshera.
