PTI nominates Nasir Aslam for CEC

ISLAMABAD
Leader of the opposition in National Assembly Khursheed Shah during a meeting with the Prime Minister Nawaaz Sharif Thursday proposed the names offormer Chief Justice Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui, Justice (retd) Mian Ajmal and Justice (retd) Rana Bhagwandas for appointment as the new Chief Election Commissioner.
He has advised Prime Minister to contact other political parties including MQM in this regard. He said he would meet leaders of Jammat Islami, Awami National Party, PTI and FATA MPs to develop consensus on the appointment of CEC. Talking to media men he said he would talk to PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi to seek his party point of view.
Later, PTI senior vice president while talking to Khursheed Shah on phone, he told him that his party leadership has proposed Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid’s name should be included in the list. Shah Mehmood Qureshi told Khursheed Shah PTI holds all the three persons proposed by the PPP but wants inclusion of Justice (Retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid name for the slot of CEC.
The Prime Minister has left for Chine on official visit and expected to consult with other political parties in this regard. Sources privy to the development confided to this scribe that Justice (Retd) Rana Bhagwandas is most suitable man to lead the Election Commission of Pakistan.
