WASHINGTON: On July 7, President Joe Biden will present the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Gold Star father and 2016 media darling Khizr Moazzam Khan.
Khan gained notoriety for questioning Trump’s understanding of the US Constitution. The Consti­tu­tion Literacy and National Unity Center’s founder is one of the 17 Americans from all throughout the country who will get the honour this year. People who lose a child while defending America are referred to as “Gold Star parents.”
The parents of US Army Captain Humayun Khan, who died in the 2004 Iraq War, are Mr. Khan and Ghazala Khan.The Presidential Medal of Freedom is given to people who have made exceptional contributions to the prosperity, values, or security of the US, to international peace, or to other major societal, public, or private undertakings, according to a statement released by the White House on Friday.
Khizr Khan is a well-known supporter of legality and religious liberty who served on President Biden’s US Commission on International Religious Freedom, according to the statement.
Mr. Khan is the first Pakistani American to get this honour; he was born in Gujranwala and immigrated to the US in 1980.
