ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday elected Justice (r) Dost Mohammad as caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtukhwa (KP).
During a press conference, ECP officials said that the name was selected after consultation in a meeting chaired by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Raza Khan.
It is pertinent to mention here that the issue was sent to ECP after a six-member parliamentary committee, comprising Shah Farman, Atif Khan and Mehmood Khan from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Noor Saleem Khan, Mehmood Khan Betani and Mufti Fazal Ghafoor of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), had failed to reach consensus.
The government had given names of Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi and Hamayatullah Khan while opposition supported Manzoor Afridi and Justice (retd) Dost Mohammad.
Justice (r) Dost Mohammad was born in 1953 in Bannu. He has served as justice of Supreme Court and Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court. INP
