The Judicial Commission of Pakistan has approved the appointment of 6 judges to the Supreme Court. A meeting of the Judicial Commission was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi, in which the appointment of 8 new judges to the Supreme Court was considered.

According to sources, the meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan approved the appointment of Justice Amir Farooq as a judge of the Supreme Court, in addition, Chief Justice Sindh High Court Shafi Siddiqui was also approved to be appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court.

According to sources, Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Hashim Kakar was approved to be appointed as a Supreme Court judge, and Chief Justice Peshawar High Court Ishtiaq Ibrahim was also approved to be appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court.

Sources said that the Judicial Commission approved the appointment of Sindh High Court Judge Salahuddin Panwar as a Supreme Court judge and Peshawar High Court Justice Shakeel Ahmed as a judge of the Supreme Court.

Sources said that the matter of appointing Supreme Court judges from the Lahore High Court has been postponed.

According to sources, Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb has been approved for appointment as a temporary judge to the Supreme Court, his appointment has been made for one year, Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb’s appointment has been implemented due to the increasing burden of tax cases in the Supreme Court.

Sources said that Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb can be made permanent, Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb’s appointment has been made under Article 181.

According to sources, senior judges of the Supreme Court, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Munib Akhtar, boycotted the Judicial Commission meeting, besides them, Barrister Ali Zafar and Barrister Gohar also boycotted the meeting.

It should be noted that Member Judicial Commission and PTI Senator Barrister Ali Zafar had demanded the postponement of today’s meeting in a letter to the Chief Justice yesterday.

Supreme Court issues notice of Judicial Commission of Pakistan meeting

Later, the Supreme Court issued a notice of the Judicial Commission meeting, which said that the meeting approved the appointment of 6 judges as Supreme Court judges.

The notice said that the Judicial Commission meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, the commission approved the appointment of Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Amir Farooq as a Supreme Court judge.

According to the notice, Chief Justice Sindh High Court Shafi Siddiqui, Chief Justice Balochistan High Court Hashim Kakar and Chief Justice Peshawar High Court Ishtiaq Ibrahim were approved to be appointed as Supreme Court judges.

The notice said that Sindh High Court Judge Salahuddin Panwar and Peshawar High Court Justice Shakeel Ahmed were approved to be appointed as Supreme Court judges.

According to the notice, Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb was approved to be appointed as an acting judge in the Supreme Court.
