UMERKOT: A village Jirga banished the family of a rape victim after they refused to accept a settlement of 30 maund of wheat.
Mushtaq Mangrio from the Sain Dad Mangrio allegedly raped a labourer’s daughter a few days back.
After he was arrested and television channels reported the news, elders of the village called a jirga where they settled the matter for 30 maund of wheat. When the victim family refused to accept the decision of the jirga they were banished from the village.
The victim family appeals for justice. On the other hand police has not presented the challan for the accused in the court.
