ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has endorsed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) call for reconstitution of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
A delegation of JI headed by Liaquat Baloch met Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza Khan here on Friday.
Talking to media after the meeting, Liaquat Baloch said that last year’s general elections have become controversial.
He said that JI representatives have given suggestions to the CEC for electoral reforms in the meeting.
“Election Commission should have financial autonomy,” he suggested.
The JI senior leader further stated that Election Commission should be awarded same stature as that of Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Baloch said that CEC carries a job of protecting democracy in the country.
Meanwhile, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan, Sirajul Haq has urged the sitting ministers to avoid issuing harsh statements only to prove their loyalties and instead try to reduce hatred and help the government find out a way out of the prevailing crisis. INP
