ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Sirajul Haq Monday tendered a written apology to the Election Commission of Pakistan over violation of code of conduct of elections.
The Election Commission had summoned Siraj ul Haq to appear before it on Monday to respond to an application that he had violated the code of conduct by addressing an election meeting in Mardan last week.
Counsel for JI Amir appeared before the election commission on Monday , presented a written apology and explained his view point. He assured that in the future, he would not violate the election laws.
It is worth mentioning that Local government elections are going to be held in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa on 30th May for which the Commission has issued a code of conduct. After the issuance of the code, there was ban on political leaders to run the election campaign but Sirajul Haq addressed a public meeting in Mardan.
The ECP disposed of the case after apology by the Jamaat-e-Islami Amir.
