ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission has summoned Chairman NADRA Usman Mubeen on May 21 and Chief Information Officer (CIO) FAFEN on May 22.
Claims have also emerged regarding Pakistan Tehrkeek-e-Insaf’s submission of unofficial documents.
Former election commissioner Sindh SM Qadri, Managing Director (MD) Printing Corporation Karachi Muzaffar Chandio, MD Security Printing Press Karachi Rizwan Ahmed were presented in front of JC today.
During cross-examination of PTI’s lawyer Abdul Hafeez Peerzada, Rizwan Ahmed said that the material for printing of ballot papers had already been purchased when he assumed office.
He said that the intial order of printing papers were numbered at 6 crore 80 lacs which was modified afterwards.
PTI lawyer Abdul Hafeez Peerzada withdrew the name of Nabeel Gabol from the list of witnesses.
PTI’s lawyer said that a journalist of a private channel and CIO of FAFEN were also instrumental witnesses.
During cross-examination by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) lawyer, former MD Security Press Karachi said that Election Commission Punjab had furnished the details of election materials on April 26 adding that additional manpower had been taken for 5 to 6 days.
Claims of submission of unofficial documents also unfurled in front of the commission.
Lawyers of the candidates of Punjab Assembly’s PP 261 and 213 claimed that their clients had submitted wrong documents to the commission to which Chief Justice Nasir ul Mulk directed to submit written application to rectify the matter.
Withdrawing from cross-examination of Muzaffar Chandio and SM Qadri, PTI lawyer remarked that other candidates are heavy weights.
Chief Justice Nasir ul Mulk has summoned Chairman Nadra and CIO FAFEN on Thursday and Friday respectively. NNI
