Says ‘truths’ being unveiled as a result of dharna
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said that Judicial Commission must constitute special teams to investigate the last general elections for the future of Pakistan.
Khan’s demand came after election tribunal unseated Federal Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique by declaring his victory in NA-125 null and void.
“All parties have pointed to rigging in the last general election and I endorse Aitzaz Ahsan’s stance that proof can be found in polling bags,” he said.
“It’s in the terms of reference of the judicial commission agreement to open up the bags and investigate,” he stressed
He said that commission must summon returning officers and other polling staff to investigate who was behind them.
“Saad Rafique has sat in the parliament as a stranger in the house and I can see that Nawaz Sharif is also a stranger in the Parliament.”
He said that 2015 was the year of election.
To a question, he said that local government elections and general elections were two totally different things.
“We are waiting for the decision of Jahangir Khan Tareen’s constituency; we know there is a lot of pressure on holding back results,” he said
Khan said that he would ask his legal team to take up the role of returning officers and presiding officers and asked who got it done; till this is not done there is no use asking for elections.
“If people had not come out, they would have still been sitting behind stay orders.80% cases dismissed on technical grounds “
“We are doing this for the future of our children; the culmination of 126 days of dharna (sit-in). I congratulate all who came out to support us in sit-ins”
“We already knew the forensic analysis but we sent to Nadra for double verification so there is no doubt.”
Slamming Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique for his statements after the tribunal’s decision, Imran Khan said: “How can he say that he is being blamed for the returning officers’ negligence. The short order clearly says that bags were ripped open and that each voter voted six times on average. This is rigging right in front of you.”
“Saad Rafique has said this is not my fault, it’s the fault of polling staff. How does this not prove that the election was not free and fair and how long PML-N will befool the nation.”
Khan regretted that it took people like Hamid Khan two years to get this verdict, adding that there was pressure right now to stop NA-122 results.
“I will go myself and ask Nadra chairman why they are not releasing results. There was an MNA who screamed when we entered NA”
“NA-125 is a gain for PTI, a setback for PMLN, but more importantly this represents a victory of people of Pakistan and struggle for democracy.”
He said that PTI did not struggle for personal gains for 126 days till free and fair elections don’t happen, democracy will not come. NNI
