Jails of Rawalpindi region lack 500 wardens

RAWALPINDI: Despite the security high alert and intense security threat, 5 jails of Rawalpindi Region are lacking wardens.

According to the details, keeping in mind the intensity of security threats, jails in Rawalpindi should have more 500 wardens to meet the security requirements.

Sources in the jails told media that countrywide execution of terrorists has put the need of fool proof security of jails with terrorists on fire but the jails lack sufficient number of wardens to tackle this situation.

They said that the staff of jails is incapable to handle any untoward incident in a proper way because it is tiny in number.

Sources said that security threats have increased in the 6 jails of Rawalpindi Region; Adyala Jail, Attock, Jehlum, Mudi Bahaudin, Chakwal and Gujrat Jail because they are facing the scarcity of 500 jail wardens.

According to them, due to the scarcity of wardens, jails’ officers are facing difficulties in not only managing the routine work of the jails but also in securing the jails from any security threat.

Jails’ sources said that to meet the essiantial security requirements, recruitment of staff has been started and applications from the desiring candidates have been demanded.

DIG Jails Rawalpindi Region has told media while commenting on the recent situation of staff in the jails that new staff will be recruited very soon.

He said that the recruitment process is at full spin and will be completed almost immediately. He told that the last date of receiving applications is 3th of March. DNA
