Demise of Jahangir Badar brought an end to the illustrious career of a diehard worker and leader of Pakistan People’s Party. He was a central leader and General Secretary of PPP. He was one of the very few politicians, who remained loyal to PPP throughout his political career and never joined any other party.
Even in the hard days for the party, he continued to struggle against dictator regimes of three Generals. He braved imprisonment and physical torture in various dictator regime but continued struggle and fight against dictatorial regimes. During his university days he was impressed with charisma of founder of PPP Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and joined party. He played significant role in the 1980s to make PPP a household name in Punjab. He was elected to the National Assembly in 1988 and was appointed Federal Minister by then Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. He was also elected to the Senate of Pakistan in 1994 and was re-elected in 2009. His death is an unfortunate loss but his legacy remains alive.
