Islamabad police nabbed 313 criminals in August 2014

Valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees recovered

ISLAMABAD (INP): Owing to high efforts of Islamabad police and effective strategy to counter criminal elements, a total of 313 accused were arrested during last month for their alleged involvement in various crime cases besides recovery of cache of weapons, narcotics and looted items worth Rs. 23 million from them.

Following the directions from Minister for Interior Ch. Nisar Ali Khan to enhance policing measures in the city for ensuring protection to the lives and property of the citizens, Islamabad police made special efforts to curb activities of anti-social elements and achieved significant success. AIG ( Operation) Sultan Azam Temuri assigned special task to officials of Islamabad Police and massive crackdown against absconders, criminal elements and search operation against suspects were launched.

During all these efforts for effective policing, Islamabad police achieved remarkable success during the last month and arrested 313 persons for their alleged involvement in criminal cases.

A total of 74 accused were arrested for possessing illegal weapons and involvement in drug peddling activities while cache of weapons and narcotics was recovered from them.

27 auto-thieves were arrested and 22 vehicles including several motorbikes were recovered from them. A total of 74 persons were held for their alleged involvement in dacoity as well as theft incidents while gold ornaments, cell phones, lap tops, cash and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were also recovered from them.

Police nabbed five court absconders and 12 POs and 542 beggars. Later, 496 of them were shifted to Edhi home, while challans against 46 professional alm-seekers were submitted in the relevant courts.

As many as 116 suspects were arrested while 187 men were put under constant monitoring due to their suspicious activities. Owing to smart policing tactics used by the Islamabad police, the metropolitan has experienced significant reduction in car theft incidents.

AIG, Islamabad Sutlan Azam Temuri has said it is the prime responsibility of police to provide relief to citizens, adding that every possible effort would be made to provide protection to the lives and property of citizens as well as resolving their complaints on immediate basis.

IGP Islamabad, Tahir Alam Khan has also appreciated this overall performance and further directed all police officials to continue such endeavors to nab criminal elements.
