ISLAMABAD, Jan 08 (NNI): Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday sought detailed response from the Chairman of Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) regarding the petition to ban the illegal operation of Afghan SIMs.

Islamabad High Court’s justice Athar Minallah heard the case regarding the ban on illegal operation of Afghan SIMs.

The petition was filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday seeking ban on Afghan SIMs in Pakistan. The petition was filed by Saimul Haq in which he contended that more than 50,000 Afghan SIMs are being operated in the country. These SIMs are being used in terrorist and criminal activities, he claimed.

The petition requested court to direct the PTA to completely ban and suspend operation of illegal and unregistered Afghan SIMs.

Islamabad High Court has issued a notice to Chairman PTA, seeking a detailed response to stop operation of Afghan mobile phone SIMS in Pakistan. NNI
