ISLAMABAD: Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost on Tuesday called on Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid and discussed matters of mutual interest particularly cooperation in the field of media, information and culture.

The Information Minister said reducing energy deficit is the top most priority of the government, and Pakistan would explore various avenues to bridge this gap, including import of electricity and gas from Iran.

Pervaiz Rashid said that Pakistan highly values its fraternal ties with Iran and considers it a close friend and neighbour. The two countries have cordial relations, he added.

He said people-to-people contacts would be encouraged through exchange of delegations to further strengthen historical, cultural, religious and linguistic ties between Pakistan and Iran.

Mehdi Honardoost assured the Minister of his cooperation and said that Iran is keen to further strengthen relations with Pakistan, which are mutually beneficial to the people of both countries.
