Information still far from citizen on district government portal

RAWALPINDI: The citizen of Rawalpindi demanded early upload of public information on City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) website as large number of people visited the newly constructed website and found no useful data expect some documents of Budget 2014-15, Own Source Receipts 2014-2015 and Grant wise salary non salary 2014-15.  According to details given on the website of district the headers of Annual Development Programme, Audit Report, Rawalpindi Waste Management Company, Metro Bus Project as well as other useful info that should be published for citizen is still not made public by the district government that is the violation of section 4 of the Punjab RTI Act 2013. Citizens urge the CDGR to share information through website and upload the information on their website under section 4 of Punjab Transparency and Right to Information Act 2013 so that common people could get the needed information without visiting the government offices that is the legal right of every citizen after passing the Punjab Transparency and Right to Information Act 2015 by the Punjab Assembly. The website of City District Government of Rawalpindi (CDGR) receives large number of visitors in last three days after its launch on Friday this month. About over four hundred thousand citizens visited the website in last three days to seek needed information from the official website of district government that shows the importance of the website for the residents of District Rawalpindi. Nationals pressed that Rawalpindi government as well as other districts of Punjab including police department of Rawalpindi to develop their official website to ensure timely dissemination of information to its citizens that is now their prime responsibility under Punjab RTI law.
