17 Indian soldiers were killed while 20 others seriously injured in a deadliest attack on an army headquarters in Uri area of Baramulla district in Indian held Kashmir on Sunday. According to Indian media, four to six attackers entered the brigade headquarters in a commando style and opened fire. Meanwhile, the Indian army spokesperson claimed that four attackers were killed in the encounter.
After the attack as it happens, Indian media and politicians started blaming Pakistan for the attack and alleged that attackers came from Pakistan. Preliminary to investigation of any sort, blaming Pakistan for any mishap that occurs in India is quite absurd and hardly contains any sense. Indian media all day long in fierce debates kept discussing how to teach a lesson to Pakistan. Putting aside all the sanity, Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh passed a statement that Pakistan is a terrorist state and should be isolated at the international arena.
The attack on Indian army should be viewed in the contest of recent Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir, from last 75 days India has imposed curfew in the Kashmir valley, over 70 unarmed protesters have been killed, hundreds have received serious injuries, and many have lost their one or both eyes, courtesy to Indian forces using pellet guns. Considering the high scale of violations of human rights in Kashmir by Indian forces, retaliatory attack from separatists is quite possible.
Best way forward for India, Pakistan and people of Kashmir is the peaceful solution of the Kashmir issue. India needs to come out from state of denial regarding Kashmir issue and indulge in negotiations. Blaming others for own faults would not solve the matter; peace in the region is linked with peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue.
Preliminary to any investigation, blaming Pakistan for any mishap that occurs in India is quite absurd.
