Indian I-Day brings more bloodshed in Kashmir

Indian forces in held Kashmir killed at least eight people on Monday including innocent young protesters on India’s Independence Day. Fierce clashes between protesters and Indian troops were reported across the Kashmir valley despite the authorities imposing a round-the-clock curfew. Mobile and Internet services were snapped and thousands of armed policemen patrolled the main cities and towns. Protesters celebrated India’s Independence Day as a ‘Black Day’ on both sides of the valley to protest against the illegal occupation and register their deep concerns over the ruthless use of force against the innocent people in Held Kashmir.

Indian Prime Minister in spite of giving a chance to rational approach to tackle the ever increasing freedom movement and clashes in Indian held Kashmir, once again proved shortsightedness by blaming that recent mass uprising is being initiated from across the border. On his Independence Day speech Narendra Modi said that time has come that Pakistan shall have to answer to the world for the atrocities committed in Azad Kashmir and in Balochistan. This statement by a serving Indian prime minister is not only against the diplomatic norms but also ridiculous. There were speculations that India is behind the anti-Pakistan elements in Balochistan and Modi’s remarks just have given life to these speculations.

Indian authorities despite using full force are unable to suppress protesters in occupied Kashmir and in result ridiculous statements are being passed. Best way forward is to give diplomacy a chance to settle the issues; else Pakistan can also counter with the instability and state inflicted violence in other parts of India, particularly in northeast side. The path of senseless accusation by Modi is just an attempt to deny the original dispute of both countries.

Things looking bleak but best way forward is to give diplomacy a chance to settle the issues.
