Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir is nothing new. Despite claiming itself to be a secular state, the Indian government has been unleashing terror on the innocent Kashmiris for decades. However, over the recent few years the brutality of Indian forces has increased many folds as their frustration grows at the resilience of Kashmiris who refuse to back down from their right to self determination.
On Sunday, occupying Indian forces gunned down at least 17 youths in different firing and siege and search operations in two districts Shopian and Islamabad of south Kashmir. Indian army’s barbarity in Kashmir is similar to that of Israel on innocent Palestinians; Israeli forces killed at least 17 Palestinians as they protested peacefully in Gaza.
The brutal assault by Indian forces has drawn wide spread condemnation, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that India was incapable of silencing Kashmir. He expressed deep sorrow over the recent loss of life in Kashmir and condemned Indian tyranny. He said India could not silence Kashmiris. The prime minister went on to add that the Kashmiri struggle for independence could not be called terrorism.
Foreign Minister, Khawaja Asif also condemned the brutality of Indian forces in occupied Kashmir. He said that the worse form of state terrorism is underway in occupied Kashmir. Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal strongly condemning the Kashmiris’ massacre, said the voice of Kashmiris can’t be silenced with guns and demanded of the international community to condemn Indian atrocities.
Army Chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa also condemned Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir. “Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir can never suppress a just indigenous political struggle for self-determination,” the Army Chief was quoted as saying in a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman, Imran Khan in a tweet, denounced the brutality of Indian forces against innocent Kashmiris and asked the United Nations Security Council to act against Indian aggression.
The mindless killing spree undertaken by Indian forces has one against exposed the ugly, inhuman face of the state-terrorism that India had been perpetrating against the Kashmiris for decades. It is time that the world takes notice of Indian barbarity. The silence of much of the international community is not only disturbing but is a major reason that India continues to terrorize innocent Kashmiris. The Pakistani government should also present the case of Kashmir more forcefully at international level.
The mindless killing spree has one against exposed the ugly face of India.
