In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown continues on the second consecutive day on Tuesday against the killing of 10 youth by the Indian troops in Shopian on Sunday. In last week in occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh acts of state terrorism have martyred at least ten innocent civilians.
According to Kashmir Media Service, call for the shutdown has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. All shops and business establishments were closed while transport was off the road. Meanwhile, the puppet authorities continued to impose restrictions in Srinagar and other parts of the Valley to prevent people from staging demonstrations against the bloodbath by the Indian troops. All educational institutions, including universities, colleges and schools remained closed. Authorities have snapped internet services in Srinagar to prevent people from sharing information about the serious situation.
According to details, Indian troops killed three youth during a violent cordon and search operation in Chattabal area of Srinagar. Meanwhile, massive protests, marked by clashes between the demonstrators and the Indian forces’ personnel, erupted in Chattabal and its adjoining areas. Indian police and troops used brute force to disperse the protesters. A vehicle of Indian forces deliberately hit a civilian, Aadil Ahmed, during clashes in Safa Kadal area of Srinagar. Aadil was rushed to SMHS hospital but succumbed on the way.
Kashmiri youngsters are being killed on one pretext or the other and the aim of the ongoing genocide is only to terrify the freedom-loving Kashmiris. But Indian authorities must understand that such heinous act could not deter resolve of Kashmiris, with every passing day they are becoming more determined to achieve their cause. Even after 70 years of coercive tactics India has been unable to suppress freedom movement. Kashmiris till this day are struggling for their freedom and paying for it through their own blood. India should realize that without resolving Kashmir issue, peace in the region is not possible. It is high time that Indian policy makers must end brutality in occupied Kashmir and look forward for a peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute. On the other side international community should also take steps to pressurize India to end the bloodshed of innocent people of held Kashmir. World leaders should push for international support to compel India to fulfill its human rights obligations as well as its commitments under the UN Security Council’s resolutions.
