ISLAMABAD: President Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Masood Khan has said that, “The people of Jammu and Kashmir would not be deterred by Indian state terrorism in Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK) or any blandishments.”
He was talking to Secretary General Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs, Prof. Paolo Cotta-Ramusino who called on him in Islamabad on Thursday to exchange views on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, and peace and stability in South Asia.
President Masood Khan condemned the continuing atrocities and gross human rights violations in IOK and expressed his deep concern over the apathy of the International community. He said the people of Jammu and Kashmir are determined to continue their struggle for the realization of the right of self-determination. They would continue to work to mobilize international support for their cause.
The United Nation must respond to the catastrophic situation in Indian occupied Kashmir. Silence under the present circumstances is tantamount to acquiescence, he said.
Prof. Ramusino stressed the need for communication between India and Pakistan and the Kashmiries on both sides of the LOC to promote dialogue to resolve all issues. He said that Pugwash would continue its efforts to make discreet contacts with both sides to pave the way for engagements.
President Masood Khan appreciated the constructive role being played by Pugwash conferences in pursuit of peace and stability all around the world. He particularly thanked Pugwash for its interest in South Asia and Kashmir.
