ISLAMABAD: Due to ongoing rain, asphalt work on the flyover of the Rawal Dam junction project is estimated to take one week to complete.
The flyover was intended to open on Monday (today), as planned by the Capital Development Authority (CDA), but officials announced that due to the recent and ongoing rainy spells, the flyover would now open after one week, assuming the rain is light.
Despite the recent rains in Islamabad, a senior CDA officer stated on Sunday that the flyover project was nearly finished and that initial asphalt construction would begin in the coming days.
He claimed that the foundation work had been finished and that CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed and his crew had utilised the flyover to check the development on Saturday.
“Within a week, we hope to open the flyover bridge to traffic. Balance projects, like as the underpass, should be finished in a month, the officer predicted.
According to a press release from the CDA, the project had reached its final phases due to management’s special attention, and filling work had been finished on both interchange ramps.
In order to ensure the supply of high-quality travel amenities, instructions have been given to the affected formation to do additional compaction in order to minimise the effects of recent rains on construction efforts.
The management has given the concerned departments directives calling for an acceleration of work. The press statement noted that every resource should be used to ensure that the project is finished on schedule.
