Imran Khan, the chairman of the PTI, denounced the attack on army posts on Thursday and claimed that PDM wanted to drive PTI out of mainstream politics by putting the army against the opposition party.
The former prime minister said his party had “no conflict” with the establishment as authorities intensified their campaign of crackdown against PTI following the incident on May 9.
The former premier claimed he was not in discussion with anyone because he had made it plain that “talks will be held on the issue of elections only, nothing else” at his first press conference after his detention, which led to widespread riots.
The PTI chairman responded to a query by saying, “I have no issue with the establishment, but I don’t see why they are annoyed with me.
He continued his accusations that PDM was planning to eliminate PTI with the aid of the military and claimed that this action was risky for the nation since it would lead to the same outcomes that led to Pakistan’s fragmentation in 1971. He proclaimed, “If anyone battles against its army, the country will be destroyed.”
The former premier also discussed defections inside his own party and expressed sympathy for the PTI leaders who left “under pressure” after the crackdown.
On Thursday, Malik Amin Aslam became the newest member to leave Imran’s party. Mr. Khan stated that he wasn’t certain whether he would welcome these leaders back into the party.
The PTI chairman praised the party leaders who resisted pressure, saying that the public would remember them for not caving in. He declared, “I will not surrender into any pressure tactics and would continue to stand up for Haqeeqi Azadi’s cause even if left alone. Two assassination attempts will not deter me.”
