ISLAMABAD: Chairman Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has said that people have rejected the smear campaign against the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital (SKMH).

He made these comments on Twitter where he thanked people for their trust in the hospital.

Khan said that this was evidence by the fact they raised a record-breaking 125 million yesterday at an Iftar fundraiser.

“Last night at SKMT Iftar fundraiser over Rs 12.5 crores were raised – breaking all records. Want to thank people for their trust in SKM,” Khan tweeted.

The PTI chief said that it was a slap in the face of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) which had launched a vicious campaign against the charity hospital to hide the corruption of Nawaz Sharif which was exposed in the Panama Papers.

“Record-breaking fund raiser a slap in the face of PMLN’s vicious campaign ag SKMT to hide Sharif’s corruption exposed in Panama Papers,” Imran said adding, “Once again the Sharifs and their cohorts’ efforts to divert nation’s attention away from Sharif family corruption & tax evasion failed.”

He said the attempt made by the cohorts of Nawaz Sharif had to divert attention of the public from corruption and tax evasion.

The main road leading to the house of Imran Khan in Bani Gala was in a state of disrepair. However, instead of placing the blame on PML-N for the negligence, Khan took the responsibility to reconstruct it.

The 600-foot-long road which cost Rs. 800,000 has been reconstructed on the personal expenses on Imran Khan who made the payments to the contractor personally.

The MNA from the area Tariq Fazal Chaudhry belongs to the PML-N.

Local residents said that the road was in a state of disrepair for a long time which caused huge inconvenience to them.

They thanked Imran Khan for the gesture which would benefit them as well. NNI
